I love reviewing books especially when the experience can be shared with my children. The Adventures of Katie Bubbles is a gem of a book that was read each night before going to bed. The incredible new series is written for today's children and encourages learning, exploring and helping others.
From vocabulary building words, to the exciting adventure that Katie Bubbles finds herself in, this fast paced educational and humor filled book was a hit in our house! Too many children's books found on the shelves of bookstores feature disobeying, impolite children with rude behavior. This is not one of those! This is refreshing for parent wanting books to inspire imagination while simultaneously be a learning tool.
I am very impressed by Steven Hill Jr's first book, The Adventures of Katie Bubbles: "The Boston Adventure". This book quickly grabbed our attention with its unique plot. In Book 1: The Boston Adventure, Giggles (Katie's brother) makes a "floating water-mix" in Katie's wading pool and the next thing you know Katie goes out to investigate and accidentally winds up in a giant floating bubble. Katie is kind-hearted and giving, helps people on the way to the Boston Public Library and the plot is captivating. After reading this book, I will be reading the next one, The Adventure in Mexico. I can't wait to read about Giggles next adventure and how Katie gets involved.
Another source of inspiration is the artwork. The illustrator is Sydney Patricia Hill, a nine year girl. When I told my daughter this interesting information tidbit, she went straight into her room and began drawing. Educational, inspirational and motivational. What more can one want in an interesting book?
